STUDY TIME

Schedule your study time, here are the tips:

1.     1.   The minimum time for preparation is two hours a days for six to eight weeks
a.       Spend 1/3 of your time reviewing content
b.      Spend 2/3 of your time answering test questions

2.       2. Use an any review book which outlines content

3.       3. Begin with areas that are most difficult for you, or the areas that are less familiar

4.      4.  For more detailed information on your difficult or less familiar areas, use a good nursing reference manual 

5.     5.   Review Medical Surgical, pediatric, women’s health, and psychiatric nursing, as well as nursing management  and alternate test item formats.

6.    6.   Use body systems approach for medical-surgical and pediatric nursing areas.
7.   When studying body systems and the associated diseases, remember to:
a.       Define the disease in terms of the pathophysiological process that is occurring
b.      Identify the client’s early and late manifestations
c.       Identify the most important or life threatening complications
d.      Define the medical treatment
e.      Identify and prioritize the nursing interventions associated with early and late manifestations
f.        Identify what the nurses teaches the client/family to prevent or adapt to disease

8.       8. To schedule you study time:
a.       List the areas you need to review
b.      Count the number of days you have available to study
c.       Estimate the amount of time needed for each area
d.      On your calendar, write the area to review, the number of questions to answer, and the amount of time needed for each study day
